People with depression need to avoid these 7 foods that may aggravate depression.

French fries

For people with depression, certain foods may make depression worse.

1. Refined sugar

Desserts taste good, but refined sugar can cause blood sugar to spike, which may cause "sugarhangover" (headaches, drowsiness, and other symptoms) to affect mood and consume energy.

2. Artificial sweeteners

Avoid aspartame, which prevents the production of serotonin, causing mood swings, headaches and insomnia.

3.Processed food

White bread, pasta, and refined or processed carbohydrates have a great impact on blood sugar after eating, causing insulin to surge, and eventually feeling tired and depressed.

4. Hydrogenated oil

If you are prone to depression, it is best not to eat fried chicken, fried squid, and French fries. Foods that are cooked with hydrogenated oil and contain trans fat are factors that cause depression. Refined cooking oils such as corn oil are rich in omega-6 fatty acids, which can cause brain inflammation and aggravate depression symptoms.

5. Sodium

Eating too much sodium can affect the nervous system and cause fatigue. It may also cause edema.

6. Alcohol

Alcohol has obvious adverse effects on the central nervous system, slowing down thinking, understanding, and analysis, and aggravating depression symptoms.

7. Caffeine

Some medical researchers believe that even a moderate amount of caffeine can be detrimental to depression and anxiety. Because caffeine can interfere with sleep and affect mood.

If you suffer from depression, you should treat it as directed by your doctor. If you feel depressed for a long time, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible.
